Bike Register Update

Dear residents,

We are happy to share that during the delights of the Derwenthorpe Day Festival we signed up over 50 cycles to the bike register scheme.

The bike register scheme is a project designed to help keep your bikes safe, it offers an effective deterrent with anti-tamper stickers and quick access to all the relevant information and images of your cycle should you ever need to report an incident to police.

Due to the high numbers of new registered bikes we will be organising another bike marking event in the near future, just in time for summer. Keep a look out on NYP York Facebook to see when an event is planned near you.

In the mean time please use the following advice to keep your cycles safe:

Invest in a good quality lock, York Cycle Campaign recommend a lock should cost 10% of the bikes original price for effective security

keep bikes locked out of site such as sheds (with locks), garages or even in your house if necessary

Never leave an unattended cycle without locking it up, even if its just for a few minutes

Store up to date photos of your cycle on your phone for easier identification

Use stickers and unique markings to make your cycle stand out
